Charles Bukowski

Three snippets from Charles Bukowski’s Slouching Toward Nirvana (Ecco, 2006):

“there’s a lioness
down the hallway

put on your lion’s mask
and wait.”

*

“we are all
museums of fear.”

*

“blue marigolds grow
in an abandoned graveyard.”

One of the things I have always found fascinating about Bukowhiskey is that while he is still a much lauded poet, like Rimbaud, the same people who praise his work are unlikely to invite him to dinner.

i loved the first one… talks of the human facade(s)

and the second one supports the claim in a way!!
