Poet Collin Kelley has posted the text to Elizabeth Alexander’s inaugural poem, “Praise Song for the Day”, on his blog, Collin Kelley: Modern Confessional.

Thanks, Collin.

It is, isn’t it? There’s sex, too, but love’s right up there in my book.

A lot of people are saying negative things about her delivery and her poem, especially on Edward Byrne’s blog. I like her poem. Her delivery was very measured, probably because she wanted to enunciate, and also because of nerves. Two million people!

“In today’s sharp sparkle, this winter air,
any thing can be made, any sentence begun.
On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp,

praise song for walking forward in that light.”
